Engagement Photos + Choosing the right Wedding Photographer

As of the 1st of April, my husband and I have been married for 7 months! As we're getting closer to our one year I wanted to share some of my favourite moments from our wedding planning experience and share some tips and advice.

These photos were taken almost two years ago ( as you can see how skinny I was!) and our good friend and photographer Annelies Heerschop shot these lovely pictures. I'm so happy with them, and to be honest, I like them a little more than my wedding photos ( they were shot by a different photographer).

The whole experience was a great time, our photographer is so talented and made us feel super comfortable. I love the fact that she was able to capture not only these moments but the emotions we felt at that time. I think they're such a great representation of my relationship with my husband.

Finding the perfect photographer for your special day is not always easy. Here are a few things you should consider:
  • Shop around. Don't settle for the first photographer you find. Set up meetings with as many photographers as you can to get an idea of what is out there.
  • Make sure that you like their portfolio and that your wedding day matches their style of photography.
  • If you don't have the budget for the best photographer in town, this can be a great opportunity to help showcase the talent of an up-and-coming photographer. You can usually get a good deal on your wedding photos or even get them for free. If you don't feel comfortable using them for you wedding, you can always test them out with engagement photos.
  • Don't wait until last minute. If you see a photographer that you like, contact them immediately with your wedding information and a date for an initial meeting. Good photographers are a hot commodity and are constantly booked. So don't miss the chance on getting a photographer that you really liked because you contacted them to late.

I can't wait to relive this wedding journey by sharing these moments with you guys. This wasn't the easiest experience, but it made for such a beautiful wedding day. I'm so blessed to have such amazing people in my life that were able to make my dream wedding come true. One of them being my very good friend Annelies.  I'm in love and  forever grateful for these photos. Check out her Instagram  for more of her work!

Have a great wednesday!

  1. Wow! These engagements photos are absolutely heart throbbing! All places they selected for their engagement shoot are just adorable. We got married at one of iconic lofty spaces in LA and had our pre wedding shoot in LA only.
