Skinny Sweet & Spicy Salmon

When I moved from my parent’s house about a year ago, I was really excited to start making my own meals. While going out for dinner is fun and ordering takeout is super easy, there is nothing more rewarding then making your own meal. Especially now being married, I think it’s so important for my husband and I to know how to cook so we can fend for ourselves.

Cooking is so much fun and so much easier now with the help of the internet. I found this recipe online a few days ago and made it for dinner last night. It was a huge hit! First of all, not only was it healthy and flavorful, but it took no time to make!

What you’ll need:
  • Four, 4-ounce fresh salmon fillets
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, divided
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • teaspoon salt
  • teaspoon black pepper

  1. In a small bowl, mix the honey and extra virgin olive oil and lightly brush mixture onto the salmon.
  2. In another bowl, mix all the dry ingredients and rub mixture (using your hands) onto the salmon.
  3. Heat up skillet to medium-high heat and add a table spoon of olive oil.
  4. After pan-searing the salmon for 7 minutes, flip it and continue to cook it for another 2 minutes.
  5. Place it on plate with rice and vegetable and your done!

Bon appétit!
